Even eldborg he’s forced to live in the cramped storage room of his sister and hateful brother-in-law’s house, Malachi knows he can’t go back to his controlling ex-boyfriend.
Then one day Malachi sees a man with dark hair and pale skin in the shower gel aisle, a man he can’t get out of his mind. When they meet again, they don 4. When they meet again, they don’t let go. If Malachi has it rough, Harper, 34, has it rougher. Freshly out of prison following a ten-year sentence, Harper is depressed and angry. Anyone would be barbwra they were locked up for an atrocious crime they didn’t commit.
Falling for You
Harper was set up and is still paying the price. The daily indignities he has to endure are heartbreaking. They would have been just had Harper been guilty of the crime, but he is an innocent man.
If I’d know you before I went inside, I’d have gone mad with longing. Malachi’s mysterious ex, Conrad, is a very real presence in this book, even though he’s not on page until the end. Conrad isn’t a monster, just a deeply damaged man who doesn’t know how to feel. He moves from villain to quiet hero to something else. I hope we get his story in the next book. The mystery surrounding Harper’s imprisonment was well done. As Malachi, who used to be a journalist, digs deeper into the circumstances of Harper’s trial, he uncovers lies, half-truths, jealousies, obsession, and greed.
We meet Harper’s former colleagues he was a teacher at an at-risk secondary schoolhis distant, vaguely cruel father who now suffers from early-onset Alzheimer, and his needy ex-boyfriend Brady. Harper and Malachi are complex characters with multiple layers; the more I learned about them, the less I felt I knew. Malachi uses humor to deal with uncomfortable situations, and his snark went a long way toward diffusing the tension of the story.
Harper is melancholy and withdrawn, but he loves Malachi and doesn’t want to lose him. Freedom tastes like you. The men make desperate, passionate love; nothing is off limits. But the sex is an instrument of their emotions; it’s not gratuitous, and it doesn’t overwhelm the story. I would have given this book 5 stars, except I think Elsborg inserted at least one angsty incident too many into the plot. Between Malachi’s childhood, his promise to Conrad, the vandalism, homophobia, petty cruelty, and fire, I felt like I was drowning.
But the ending makes the angst worthwhile. In the last chapter, I unclenched; in the epilogue, I exhaled. View all 63 comments. His life has been changed forever and he lost all his hope.
Please give me my life back. No one was listening. No one ever had. He was still falling. Without a job, he is forced to live with his sister and his homophobic brother in law who tries to make his life a living hell.
Harper and Malachi see each other for the first time in a supermarket and both of them feel a strong attraction for the other.
Days later they meet each other again and the attraction is still there. Afraid of hurting you. I want you for what you are fallong. This was my first Barbara Elsborg read and I have to say I really liked her storytelling.
It was a barhara, good structured plot that I enjoyed. What I liked the most was the main characters, especially Malachi. Both Harper and Malachi are likeable and relatable.
Smashwords – Falling For You – A book by Barbara Elsborg – page 1
Both of barhara felt real, are complex and are well developed and both of them are three dimensional. Malachi is a great guy. Especially since he is a former journalist. I also loved how loyal and supportive he is with Harper, how he makes him smile, how he gives him hope, how he makes him babara and love again, how he likes him for who he really is. Harper was a great character as well.
Falling For You
My heart broke for him. I understood his reluctance to get involved with someone, especially since he has some serious trust issues. He is sweet and he cares deeply for Malachi wanting to help him, to protect him and to love him.
He is strong and I liked the determination he shows at some point when he realizes the future is more important than the past. And in this case it really did. Maybe because I enjoyed how their relationship progressed from that point — slow and naturally. Harper and Malachi are similar in some ways, but they are different as well.
They are great as friends, but they are fantastic as a couple. I loved all their interactions and their sweet teasing and banter. Their romance is sweet and tender and even intense at times. Whether they’re alphas, broody, broken, sweet, sheltered, jaded Her signature writing style of dry wit mixed in with heart breaking angst, panty melting eroticism, and an added element of suspense never disappoints me.
If you’ve read any of her other books, you’ll know e 4. If you’ve read any of her other books, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. And if you haven’t and that sounds like something you may enjoy, I cannot recommend a better author for you. Twenty four year old Malachi is struggling to get by. After leaving a relationship with a man that controlled every aspect of his life, he longs to make it on his own. But life has different plans for him.
Unable to get a job, unable to afford a place of his own, he’s barely making ends meet living with his sister and her homophobe asshole of a husband. When Malachai notices a beautiful man standing at a supermarket and looking as lost as he feels, he feels an instant connection When his brother-in-law actually does him one act of kindness and helps him get a job with a contraction company, Malachi’s first day of work brings him face to face with the man who’s been a constant presence in his nightly fantasies.
Thirty four year old Harper has spent the last ten years of his life behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit. Shunned by everyone he once knew, they all turned away from him when he was sentenced, including his father. Harper felt the stare of the beautiful young man with the face of a fallen angel that day at the store, but he’s terrified that his past will continue to taint his future. He closed his eyes. Please let me sleep. Please don’t let me dream. Malachi was a character that you fall for right away.
He has such a caring heart even after everything he’s been through.
