My retro activities didn’t stop there today either, been quite busy – was playing around with the drivers for a PCI Sound Blaster Live! I have stacks of tractor feed paper and like three NOS ribbons, so may as well use it. Toshiba Equium M tower. Much better than the old kludge.
Only thing I could find is maybe a corrupt Windows install or DirectX needed to be reinstalled. Probably a compatibility issue with this PC, shame.
Then I turned ecc on in bios and everything worked fine too. I ahave a Soya and I don’t need a sound card. That was entirely worth my time.
Solved Can’t get sound when playing CD’s in the tower kennethDec 21,in forum: If it is a brand name computer, you could go to their web site and try and find the sound device and also download drivers for it. Boots daewooo it no problem though so not sure what is up with it. Tested out 4 PCs, only found 1 dead – but not a big loss.
